Rockhopper magazine, pez dispensers and big gulps…just another Saturday run
Larry, Liza, Stefan and I met up at G.C. this morning for a semi-long tempo run.
After settling in to a nice groove of dodging rocks and mud, Liza started some conversation with Stefan about how he got into running and some differences from life back in South Africa and America. Many things were mentioned, ranging from more corporate-backed running groups that made it easy to take up the habit to how much simpler life is overseas, with smaller amenities and portions to deal with. I have some foreign friends, and the Big Gulp was astonishing for most of them. Reminds me of this article: http://www.grist.org/list/2011-06-14-buy-a-half-gallon-of-sugar-water-at-kfc-give-a-dollar-to-diabete
Then, after struggling to get my shot blocks out of the wrapper, I decided that someone needs to make a shot-block pez dispenser. I think the Chris Russel-headed dispencer would be a hit. This led to further talk of running entrepreneurship paths…
Such as the Aging Runner magazing Larry and Liza will create, that would promote such articles/products as denture-safe shot blocks, how to run downhill without breaking your hip and climbing poles with fold-out rollers!
Come to think of it, we talked about quite a bit given the fast pace and only being out for a couple hours. I hope the McAllister crew had some equally stimulating talk and that Bandera peeps made it home safe and sound. Any other product ideas for the Aging Runner magazine? :)
Also – shoutout to Liza who is taking up a coaching opportunity with Tejas Trails. Send her some leads everyone!
